A diamond engagement ring is more than a beautiful piece of jewelry, it is also a promise.  A diamond engagement ring is symbolic of the promise between a man and a woman to love each other and plan to marry each other.  When my husband proposed to me, I didn't care what my ring looked like, I was just thrilled that he wanted to marry me!  Of course, my diamond engagement ring is gorgeous and I loved it when I received it, but I loved the promise even more.  It was Christmas Eve when my husband proposed, and he gave me a leather jacket as a Christmas gift.  When I hugged him, I felt something in the inside top pocket of my new jacket so I reached inside and there was a velvet box.  My stomach got butterflies as I opened the box and saw the diamond engagement ring!  He then asked me to marry him, and of course I said YES!  I'll never forget when I received my diamond engagement ring, and the promise that comes with it.
